Cycling and walking
Ieper (Ypres), with its rich Medieval and wartime past, is especially renowned for its impressive great square and Cloth Hall, its fortifications and the Menin Gate. However, this Flanders town has many more historic gems to reveal. To discover them, take the Heritage Walk (Erfgoedwandeling).
The Heritage Walk
Wander medieval streets, admire majestic mansion houses, stroll through the town's parks and gardens and walk the circuit between the monumental town gates along the Vauban-designed fortifications which have protected Ypres for over ten centuries.
There are also natural areas where you can enjoy pleasant walks and observe birds. The Palingbeek, the Verdronken Weide and the Hoornwerkpark are just a few of these.
Ypres and the surrounding area offer many hours of great walks for the leisurely or more serious walker.
The Knooppuntennetwerk network
Cyclists haven't been forgotten either.
The Knooppuntennetwerk network features many signposted cycle routes.
For touring cyclists, the hilly surroundings, dominated by Kemmel Hill, offer an excellent challenge.
Or, how about a gentle bike ride amidst fields to Westvleteren to taste the ‘Best Beer in the World’?
At the B&B, we provide free walking and cycling maps covering the local area.
Bikes or mopeds may also be rented.
